How to use the Pedigree Creator

Currently you can only enter one rabbit at a time on here (this is something my husband is going to be fixing at a later date.) You can't delete any full pedigrees so be careful what you enter (although you can edit them.)

Anyone entering spam will be deleted and restricted indefinitly.

It's pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. Let's say you wanted to make a pedigree for your rabbits. For examples I'll use some that are already in the system. In another browser window, open up the pedigree creator, login and type in the name April. Search and it will list any rabbits with that name, it will also show the ear #, Breed, and the last colum (in red) shows the rabbit ID #. This is an internal number that makes this pedigree creator very quick and easy to use.

April's Rabbit ID # is 424. This means she was the 424th rabbit to be entered into the system. Let's say you wanted to breed her to a buck named Ringo. Search for him, and see that his rabbit ID # is 650. Now that you have your buck and doe picked out,

Click on ADD. This takes you to a form that you must fill out. The required fields include the name, gender, breed and variety. All other fields may be left blank if you should chose, but remember the more information your pedigree has, the more professional it is!

A bit further into the form, for Sire (Rabbit ID or Name) you'll want to enter 650 for Ringo. You could also enter his name, but unless it's type exactly how it was put into the system it may not work, so I recommend using the rabbit ID's. For the Dam, you'd enter 424.

Under breeder you can either enter in new information or select a "blank" spot in the drop down menu to leave this blank. Do the same for the owner. Note that if you leave it on New, it will create a bunch of empty blanks, so be careful to select something.

Save the pedigree and it will take you to an HTML version of it and it will show a complete pedigree, since the person that entered April and Ringo linked them all together.

If you're creating a completely new pedigree with all new rabbits that aren't in the database, you'll have to do the ADD form several times, then go back and edit and put in the proper rabbit ID's to link them together.
